The Mountain Goats are an informal group of recreational runners and some fast hikers who started weekly training runs for the annual Hill Challenge in 2017.
With the Hill Challenge normally scheduled for 1 May, training runs start in early/mid January, gradually building up distance and elevation.
Some trail running experience is required. The training runs start at 7-8km distance (minimum 1 hour) in mid January peaking at 18-20km (2-3 hours or longer) in mid/late April.
Participants should be at a fitness level that that would allow them to run for at least
- one hour continually, if starting in January/February
- two hours continually, if starting in March/April
Participation in these runs is entirely at your own risk and you agree to not hold the organizers liable in any way for any injury or losses you may incur on these runs.
