World Mountain Running Association (WMRA) (non-profit)
Mountain running is a discipline recognised by World Athletics where a mountain race will usually be held mostly on trails and involves significant amounts of elevation change (50 metres / km minimum) over a distance that is usually up to 42.2km.
The WMRA has a goal of promoting running competitions and athletic performance for all ages and abilities in places of natural beauty giving people fantastic memorable experiences.
International Trail Running Association (ITRA) (non-profit)
Born in July 2013, the ITRA (International Trail Running Association) aims to give a voice to parties involved in trail running in order to promote its strong values, its diversity, the safety of races and the health of runners, as well as to further the development of trail running and ensure a constructive dialogue between the national and international bodies with an interest in the sport.
International Ultramarathon Association (IUA) (non-profit)
The International Association of Ultrarunners (IAU) is operating under the patronage of World Athletics and is dedicated to develop ultradistance running internationally within the World Athletics Rules & Regulations. As international governing body for ultradistance running, one of our main objectives is to promote and develop long distance running worldwide by encouraging specific activities in each of the World Athletics Continental Areas.
The major IAU competitions are :
100 km World Championships under the patronage of World Athletics
100 km Area Championships
24H World Championships
24H Area Championships
Trail World Championship
50 km World Championship
UTMB World Series (commercial, for-profit)
Four levels of events:
UTMB World Series Finals (Final race held in Chamonix, France, held in last week of each August)
UTMB World Series Majors (One major race from UTMB World Series Events for each continent, with double the number of Running Stones for finishers)
UTMB World Series Events (The only way for obtaining Running Stones for UTMB World Series Finals ballot)
UTMB World Series Qualifiers (Runners can obtain UTMB Index but not Running Stones)
