Pirates Online Swim Training

Email from BFIT on Sunday, 5 April 2020 at 3:01pm:

Please take note of the invitation from Pirates Swim Club to participate in online training sessions.

This is great opportunity to connect with others and stay active during these challenging times.

Dear BFIT,

Pirates Swim Club has launched “Pirates On-Line” to offer classroom and land training sessions to keep our young athletes active both mentally and physically during the COVID-19 crisis. Pirates would like to invite BFIT’s triathletes to join in these free sessions. All that is required to participate is:

“share contact” via WhatsApp the appropriate cell number of the participant to Erin at 262-0586

Download the free version of Zoom onto the device or computer that will be used.

You will receive a new session link 24 hrs. prior to the next day’s session.

Classroom sessions are currently on Mondays and Wednesdays from 10:30 am to 11:00 am (this may change as we approach the end of the regular Easter break).

This week’s session will be focusing on the proper technique for breast stroke (Monday) and butterfly (Wed).

We are also organizing sessions on sports nutrition, how to avoid an injury and “how athletes can navigate the COVID-19 experience”.

Land training sessions held by personal trainer Iain Watson on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 4:00 pm – 4:30 pm. The senior swimmers from Pirates will put on a land training session on Wednesdays at the same time. More land training sessions may be added. All you need for these sessions are a mat and a skipping rope.

We look forward to having BFIT athletes join in!

Be well and stay safe.
